Ottawa-The Canadian Agricultural Human Resources Council will receive $13.5 million in federal funding for two projects to assist in developing its National Strategic Workforce Plan for the sector, which is grappling with labour shortages.
Jennifer Wright, CAHRC Executive Director, said the shortage of workers has led to the sector to make “building and maintaining a stable, skilled workforce the top industry priority.” Some of the priorities will be actioned quickly. CAHRC, assisted by the CFA and Food and Beverage Canada, has worked on the labour challenge for the last 17-months with the goal of stabilizing the situation by 2030.
