Councillor Sandy Hickman, the city’s lead on public works, admits council had a bit to learn through the process of approval.
Hickman claims Mayor Danny Breen first thought the pump track was a water and sewer project, adding the closest he’s seen is the Velodrome in Montreal but “this was the Velodrome on wheels, literally.”The city provided the land and almost $200,000, while the association raised $125,000, including a $100,000 donation from Canary Cycles. The province also chipped in with a $15,000 grant.
