The mostly small and medium\u002Dsized dogs of a mixture of breeds were being neglected, says the animal welfare organization
Animal protection officers removed the dogs — mostly small and medium-sized and a mix of breeds — because they were being neglected and “were suffering from a range of medical and behavioural welfare concerns,” says Eileen Drever of the B.C. “The B.C. SPCA works closely with the many reputable rescue organizations that operate here in B.C. and we strongly support the work that they do,” says Drever, the senior officer of protection and stakeholder relations at the SPCA.“However, in cases where an individual or group causes or allows animals to be in distress, we have to ensure that these animals are protected and receive the care that they urgently need.
Drever says the animals were kept in substandard conditions in a garage and several rooms in a home on the property. “Some of the issues involved unsanitary conditions, overcrowding and high ammonia levels from urine,” says Drever. The animals are in protective custody and the SPCA is investigating. Anyone who can help with the costs of their care is asked to visitShare this article in your social network
