The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland Clarington Catholic District School Board says children will be kept inside during recess and gym classes Wednesday. They are also reviewing outdoor extracurricular activities and class trips scheduled this week on a case-by-case basis to determine if they are safe to proceed.
The Durham District School Board issued a statement Tuesday, and said recess and lunch hour activities will proceed as normal at this time. However, students and staff with health conditions that can get worse due to the wildfire smoke could have stayed inside. The board did say any heavy outdoor activities may be reduced or rescheduled to the gym.
The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board asked all of its schools to bring students inside during Tuesday afternoon as the air quality health index reached the high risk level. The board confirmed they are keeping kids inside again Wednesday due to the air quality. The Durham Catholic District School Board says outdoor activities will continue Wednesday, but they’re restricting some of the track and field events scheduled for Wednesday.Ctrl+Enter
