With unseasonably warm weather, voters were met with long lines at some polling stations in the Capital Region on Saturday, including George Jay Elementary School.
It’s Election Day and thousands on Vancouver Island have spent it casting their ballot for various municipal, regional government and school board candidates.
“One election official came out to tell us that the line has been quite long all day. She came out three times during the day to kinda let people know and she thanked people for coming out,” one woman told CHEK News. “If the lineup is big, that means a lot of people showed up to vote, which is good,” one man told CHEK News.
Langford which once held the third lowest voter turnout rate in the province, saw residents flocking in and out.
