By locking up Tissot for another year, Atletico has cemented some invaluable veteran leadership. Tissot’s professional career includes stops in Montreal, Washington and San Franciso. He also played for the Ottawa Fury, which participated in the United Soccer League and North American Soccer League.Article content

Tissot has played in three consecutive league finals. He previously won the CPL title with Forge FC in 2020 and was on the Forge squad that was a runner-up in 2021. Atletico also announced Monday that goalkeeper Sean Melvin had also been re-signed. Melvin served as a back-up to Nathan Ingham last season.

Last week, former Atletico captain Drew Beckie announced his retirement from pro soccer. Beckie, 32, a Regina native, also had an extensive pro career throughout North America for more than a decade, including a previous stint with the Fury.
