A call to the Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade to clean up a spill over Hwy 104 that appeared to be manure seems to have been some kind of mud substance. - ContributedDEBERT, N.S. — A mysterious mud-like substance spill, originally thought to be manure, caused slippery conditions for drivers heading west on Highway 104 on Sunday evening near Debert.
Muise said the mud was spread through 200 to 300 yards mostly along the right lane and in some places was about three to four inches thick. He observed some more of it towards Glenholme. Muise said he and the other brigade volunteers are not so sure that the substance was manure, as originally called in.
“We answer any call,” said Muise. “Cat in the tree, doesn’t matter what it is … we’re there to protect the people and make sure everybody's safe."“Keep your eye on your tailgates on your vehicles," recommended Muise."Always look behind to see … check to make sure your tailgate’s tight.”
