St. John's native earned a trip to Australia thanks to a fourth-place finish at Athletics Canada Cross Country Championships in Ottawa

JOHN'S, N.L. — A multi-time winner of the Tely 10 will test herself against some of the best runners in the world next year in Australia.
This is after Kate Bazeley finished fourth with a time of 34:57 at the recent Athletics Canada Cross Country Championships held in Ottawa, Ont on Nov. 26. Bazeley’s time put her behind a top 3 that included former Canadian Olympians Julie-Anne Staehli and Natalia Hawthorn , while the other top finisher was Katelyn Aeyers .
Her fourth-place finish was good enough to clinch her spot on the Canadian team heading to Australia next year for the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships being held in Bathhurst. Bazeley is a six-time winner of the Tely 10, which includes a victory at the 94th running of the race earlier this fall.
