Signs needed to support Thornhill businesses
Why does the City of Terrace continue with the pettiness of having their signs installed in Thornhill with, it seems, the support of the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine and the highways ministry.
There are nine light standards on Ferry Island, creating eight spaces for signs. Only one is being used to point out tenting and camping on Ferry Island. The remaining spaces can accommodate the museum, art gallery, library, farmers’ market, tourist info, signs, etc. Therefore signage can go up between Kickstart and the roundabout for the Thornhill taxpaying businesses at Skeena Landing, The Lodge, Lookout Cafe , Mountainside Gallery and Chef Ahbi’s as well as on Hwy37 from Krumm Road to the roundabout.
A sign at the roundabout pointing east, indicating Thornhill, can probably go on the same sign post showing Prince George to the east. It would appear lack of signage for businesses at Skeena Landing, and for Thornhill businesses, is by design to funnel traffic from the airport away from these businesses and into Terrace.
