A Scarborough high school will be open today after a student was critically injured in a stabbing inside the building.
According to Toronto police, officers at the scene found a 17-year-old boy in the school’s office suffering from an apparent stab wound.
Paramedics arrived a short time later and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in life-threatening condition, Young said. Birchmount Park Collegiate was placed under lockdown for about two and a half hours following the stabbing, which is the second one to happen at the school so far this year., a 14-year-old boy was seriously injured after being stabbed outside the school shortly after students were dismissed for the day.
"While the TDSB plays an important role in what that solution may be, I do think we need help from other levels of government and community partners. This is not something TDSB can do alone."
