MLA stripped of duties after inviting killer to throne speech | National Newswatch

REGINA — Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe apologized Monday after a notorious killer attended the government's tough-on-crime throne speech last week — and went a step further by stripping caucus duties from the member who invited Colin Thatcher.

"To all of those who have attended the speech from the throne, to all members of this assembly and to all of the people of Saskatchewan, I offer my unequivocal apology," Moe said in the chamber of the Saskatchewan legislature Monday."Me? What would I apologize for?" Moe said Thursday."This is an individual who invited someone, not a government who invited someone. I think we need to draw that distinction.

The member issued a statement last week saying it was"an error in judgment" to invite his longtime friend Thatcher to the speech.
