And then, once I got into my earliest school years, it was on the playground that I learned all anyone really needs to know about democracy. Personally, I prefer democracy – especially when its my wishes and vision that win the day. But it’s at school that you learn about the concept of “the will of the people” and “majority rule.” Especially that last one.
Then go through the processes available to you in a free democracy and change the system. Protest in the streets if you feel it’s necessary. You live in a country where you won’t get arrested or killed for expressing an opinion in public. Be grateful for that. Last winter’s Freedom Convoy wanted “freedom” and parked their trucks in downtown Ottawa, thereby taking freedom away from the neighbourhoods they encroached upon. Why should some people’s rights over-ride others? In an increasingly multicultural country, we can’t operate like that.
