There is a growing fear of exploitation of rural green spaces. And Ottawa has spent billions on a transit system that can\u0027t be accessed by rural residents.
Rural residents are feeling unheard and left out. A ward as large as Rideau-Jock undoubtedly will have a large list of issues. Some have been recurring over the years: upkeep and maintenance of our roads; rapidly growing communities with infrastructure development not keeping pace; a lack of police presence throughout our small communities; safe streets for families to enjoy walking in their neighbourhoods; access to mental health and other family support; and the list goes on.
Billions of dollars have been spent on a transit system that either doesn’t work for, or can’t be accessed by rural residents, while existing roads continue to crumble. Issues that have been won at appeal have come back before committee. Difficulty with access to information, and the continuation of cut and fill developments in the floodplain are all contributing factors to rural residents having lost faith in our leadership.
