after access roads were blocked by activists who used commandeered heavy equipment to trench road surfaces and erect blockades., which they referred to as Coyote Camp in social media alerts soliciting funding and support.

Their actions and presence have been repeatedly denounced by elected Wetʼsuwetʼen leadership, as well as much of the First Nations’ hereditary leadership. The Wetʼsuwetʼen First Nation has officially approved construction of the pipeline, has signed benefit contracts with its builders, and counts many of its members among Coastal GasLink workers.
