Mounties are investigating a targeted shooting that occurred at a home in Nanaimo on Wednesday night.
Multiple shots were fired at a residence in the 700-block of Nicol Street, south of Needham Street, shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday. Multiple bullet casings were discovered at the scene and despite numerous officers and Police Dog Services attending the residence, a suspect has not been found, the release notes. R/Const. Gary O’Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP, said the incident likely isn’t random.Sign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.“Based on evidence obtained to date, this incident does not appear to be random and the residence was most likely targeted,” he said in a statement.
Officers are spending Thursday canvassing the surrounding area for video surveillance and knocking on doors to locate any witnesses. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, and quote file # 2022-38888.
