The Rainbow Refugee Association of Nova Scotia is dedicated to 2SLGBTQIA+ refugee resettlement and support in Atlantic Canada. The Rainbow Refugee Association of Nova Scotia is the only registered non-profit society dedicated to 2SLGBTQIA+ refugee resettlement and support in Atlantic Canada.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights stipulates: “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.”
“We have lots of people from the community who are not able to accept themselves. They have fear. I had the same problem when I realized that I am trans in a society like Afghanistan. I know that I am a man. I can totally understand this. That is why I had the idea to make this group. They were like my family and I loved them a lot. I am working with one of them, who I’m trying to help apply for support to move from Afghanistan. He is a trans man and is in big trouble over there.
