People that frequent the Queen and Yonge area are concerned that the busy downtown intersection that closed Monday forwill be shuttered for longer than the scheduled four and a half years Metrolinx says it will take.
Fencing also ran along the sidewalks on Queen south of the Eaton Centre. Fences also marked off a temporary crosswalk betwern the Eaton Centre and The Bay to the south.Along the fencing, which closed off Queen Street on either side of Yonge, is a map of the construction zone and promotions for the Ontario Line. Metrolinx and TTC workers were on hand to direct people where to go
“They often use the Queen line to get everywhere. Especially if they have any physical disabilities or difficult challenges or mental health challenges,” she told the Star. “It’s easy to just say, get on that streetcar and go straight. And so now that’s not going to be a thing anymore.”
