Quebec lawmakers have presented legislation that, if passed, will expand medical aid in dying to allow people to ask for it before they are incapacitated by an incurable disease like Alzheimer's.

The Quebec government has tabled a bill that would allow people to give prior consent for medical aid in dying if they have Alzheimer's or another illness that would render them legally incapable of giving informed consent later.
