AJ Reid and Joanne Barnett say they want to build upon Walkers Restaurant’s legacy, enhancing what they can offer customers. - Carole Morris-Underhill Reid had worked in the restaurant industry when he was younger — “I always enjoyed it, but being a cook or a chef, you don't really make good money” — and switched careers to construction. He dreamed of one day returning to the grill, and as luck would have it, just a few months after buying a home in Windsor, the couple heard Walkers Restaurant — a staple in the community — was up for sale.
The restaurant is open 363 days a year. When they took over, it opened at 7:30 a.m. but Reid quickly changed the hours, opening earlier, at 7 a.m., as there often was a lineup waiting for breakfast. They stay open until 8 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays and 9 p.m. Wednesdays to Sundays.
