Saanich police are at an undisclosed but “significant” event at Bethune Park, located on Bethune Avenue near the Uptown centre
The two homicides appear to be related, said a statement late Wednesday afternoon from Saanich police and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit.
Saanich police Sgt. Damian Kowalewich said more information is expected to be released later, but “at this time investigators feel there is no risk to the public.” Police said to expect traffic delays and heavy police presence in the 3400 block of Bethune Avenue and on Blanchard Street at Saanich Road.
Police had announced the closures earlier in the day, calling it a “significant” event at Bethune Park, located on Bethune Avenue near the Uptown centre. Several police officers were seen at the modest grey-coloured home and in a grassy area in the park. A large pickup truck is parked outside the home.Officers also cordoned off part of the median on Blanshard Street near Saanich Road and blocked the lanes nearest to the median.
