Backup quarterback Chad Kelly and running back Daniel Adeboboye make an impression for the future at BMO Field, home of the CFL East final in two weeks.
Kelly was effusive after Saturday afternoon’s 38-33 loss to the Montreal Alouettes to close out the regular season. For coach Ryan Dinwiddie, Kelly’s 23-for-35 day — for 264 yards with two touchdown passes and a rushing major — showcased why the team signed him in February to back upThe next stop for the Argos will be the East Division final at BMO Field in two weeks’ time, against Montreal or Hamilton. The winner gets a ticket to the Grey Cup in Regina on Nov. 20.
“CFL is about cover zero,” said Kelly, referring to man coverage with no deep help, putting constant pressure on the passer. “We’ve been that,” said Kelly. “When I got here in February, he was the first guy I started training with. So I trust him, and he played really well today.”
