THUNDER BAY — An aircraft flying west of Thunder Bay on Wednesday morning developed mechanical issues, prompting the pilot to land the plane on the Trans-Canada Highway.
The Ministry of Transportation reported the temporary closure of both lanes of Highway 11 in Conacher Township near Lake Shebandowan at 11:35 a.m., and said traffic control was in place.An Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson said "the aircraft had a few mechanical issues and potentially required assistance."
But the pilot was able to take off again and make it to Thunder Bay Airport where a successful landing was made.
