, the minister of official languages and minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. Lawlor had spent the last four years in Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland’s regional office in Halifax, initially as national manager in May 2019, then as regional affairs director in January 2020, and finally as director in January 2021.
Lawlor also has extensive experience at the provincial level, having been a policy analyst, communications, for members of the Nova Scotia Liberal caucus, from October 2005 to October 2013, when he became executive assistant to the provincial minister of natural resources. In July 2015, he moved to the office of the minister of municipal affairs, CNS and emergency management.
