There is much work to do to stop intimate partner violence. But our leaders can\u0027t continue ignoring this epidemic.

That’s especially true if they live in rural areas, as we heard last summer during the inquest into the murders of, killed by the same man on the same day in September 2015 in Renfrew County. As I wrote in this newspaper at the time, the man in question had spent time in prison for violence. He kept refusing mandatory therapy. He had guns despite a weapons ban against him.
Lawyer and IPV expert Pamela Cross helped write the recommendations stemming from the coroner’s inquest in Renfrew County. The epidemic declaration was the first one. I’m glad Ottawa is on the right path.
