“It’s been a long process for me. To finish and be in Tokyo, which is a beautiful city, around that excitement of people getting their Six Star Medal was pretty amazing,” said P.E.I. long-distance runner Kim Bailey.

And third, although the clock is always part of a marathon, this would be the first time Bailey would face a marathon with rolling cut-offs, meaning that runners who didn’t reach all eight cut-off points by certain times would be pulled out and not allowed to finish.
“It is a big deal. It feels a bit surreal, but it is something I started in 2007 when I did two of my world majors back-to-back: Boston and New York City,” said Bailey in a recent interview with SaltWire Network after returning back home to P.E.I. “Within a line of work that was very difficult and very demanding and very stressful, it was a way for me to process the day when I went on long runs by myself,” said Bailey. “I love everything about it. It’s easy, all you need is a good pair of running shoes, music and it transports you anywhere.”
