Pendergast said the city was lukewarm, at best, when he took the proposal to city hall, adding he was told the main concern was upsetting the people who live next to the park.

Clifford Lee, who was mayor of Charlottetown when the new pavilion opened in 2017, said the purpose of the facility was to create a space for the city’s arts and community.His son, Shane Pendergast, said it’s not easy trying to book the pavilion.
“All cultural event applications and proposals, including Mr. Pendergast’s, go forward to council for evaluation as part of our budget process," the statement read. “The budget process concludes the end of March, and all applicants will be informed of their application status at that time."
