Charlottetown Police Services charged a Charlottetown man with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking following a single vehicle collision in the city on Oct. 27. - File PhotoCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 36-year-old Charlottetown male was charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking following a single vehicle collision in the city on Oct. 27.
Charlottetown Police Services responded to the collision near the Greenwood Drive/St. Peters Road roundabout at approximately 4:15 p.m. A vehicle lost control in the roundabout and struck a utility pole. Responding officers determined that the driver of the vehicle displayed signs of being impaired by drugs and was arrested. Impaired driving charges are pending the blood sample toxicology results.
During the course of this investigation, police located a quantity of what is believed to be cocaine and other items consistent with drug trafficking. The vehicle passenger was not injured, and the driver was brought to the QEH and later cleared without injuries.
