The Trudeau government and the provinces have been negotiating a new deal for health-care transfers for more than a year. Provinces have so far held a mostly united front that they’re not prepared to have Ottawa dictate how health care dollars should be spent, but this week Ontario fell more into alignment with federal demands. “Everyone has to be accountable. I always say there’s one taxpayer, no matter if it’s municipal, federal or provincial. There’s one person that’s paying the taxes, and there always has to be accountability,” he said.
