A: All minority health is challenging because there are a lot of minorities. It becomes an impossible task. We have to acknowledge how to include everybody — just to acknowledge the challenges and that understand that their practices will be diverse. They have an obligation to be inclusive and be both sensitive and relevant to the person sitting in front of them.A: Our survey was of 647 men in the Ottawa area, from the urban core to the suburbs to small towns around Ottawa.
A: We found that 24 per cent of the men did not disclose to their primary-care providers that they have sex with men. But it varies. In the urban core, it’s 17 per cent. In suburban areas, it’s 30 per cent. In the small towns, it’s 40 per cent. You would be surprised how many people limit who knows that they’re gay. About half of the people in the survey were not out to some people. They would be out to friends, but not to people at work.
