It’s a jam-packed Ye Olde Mailbag this week, hope everyone can get through it before the early start in Charlotte.you mentioned at the end that to sign Jeff Dowtin someone needs to be waived and that Joe Weiskamp is unlikely to figure into long- or short-term plans so maybe waive him.
He really wanted to get it done but the federal government could not be convinced to fast-track his application. Ben Simmons’ season with the Brooklyn Nets was shut down a few days ago. Do you think he will be back with the Nets next season, or has he outstayed his welcome there? If that’s the case, are there other NBA teams that would be willing to have him on their roster?

Doug, do you believe there are other coaches who could have got more out of the Raptors this year than Nick Nurse?Given the roster, the injuries, the development or lack thereof of some players, I’d say no. As it turns out, this has been about a .500 year and that’s about where they’ll finish.I understand the chatter around the future of Nick Nurse, I suppose. Whenever a team doesn’t have the success everyone thinks they should have, blame needs to be assigned. It’s the world we live in.
