Fox News should not be banned from Canadian cable TV packages. It would be wrong, for reasons of principle, for the effect it would have on our already polarized politics and for the precedent it would set. Opinion by andrewphil

The issue arises because the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission is seeking public comments about the idea of banning Fox from our airwaves. The agency is responding to a request from the LGBTQ advocacy group Egale Canada,and in particular trans people. that can be offered by Canadian cable providers. That was right after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the CRTC argued it was in the public interest to ban a network that “seeks to undermine the sovereignty of another country” and “undermine democratic institutions within Canada.”
