In order to keep the public suitably impressed with their sheer brilliance, Doug Ford and company have been naming new laws to reflect their alleged noble purposes. Here are some suggestions for renaming Doug Ford’s silly bills. Opinion by Dave Schwartz

Monty Python’s Ministry of Silly Walks could be a source of inspiration to the Ford government of Ontario. We should have a Ministry of Silly Bill Names. Ford’s Conservatives would hit the ground running on this as they have already done the groundwork.

In the Kenora riding, our MPP, Greg Rickford, nodded his approval to Bill 28 like some bobble-head doll, just as he did about a decade ago as a federal MP under Stephen Harper when he bobble-nodded the defunding of the world-renowned Experimental Lakes Research facility. In fairness to MPs and MPPs of all political parties, it should be noted that blind servitude to the Dear Leader of the day is the price of career advancement in politics.

Back in February, having narrowly missed the opportunity to play Santa Claus, Ford passed the “Freebies for Those Who Don’t Need Them Act,” which eliminated the registration fees for most private vehicles at the cost of more than a billion bucks a year, which should have gone to people in need.
