About 400 vehicles cross the bridge daily. While it was closed during construction, residents had to take a 15-km detour to get from one side to the other.

“We all know it’s real. We all know it’s here. We all experienced Fiona and saw the terrible destruction of our forests,” Parker said. “All of our infrastructure is going to have to be a whole lot stronger than what it has been in the past.” It's much easier to get from one side of Eureka to the other now thanks to the fact that the new Eureka Mills Bridge is open to traffic. - Ray Burns
