This decision was made to let more people access the parks during the summer season
Ontario Parks is reducing the maximum length for camping at some of the parks to allow access to more people.
As of next year during the peak summer season, the maximum length of stay will be decreased from 23 nights to seven or 14 nights at certain parks.Ontario Parks is continuously looking for ways to provide more people with the opportunity to access Ontario Parks. As a result, Ontario Parks is making changes to the maximum length for campground campsite stays at some of our busier parks.
As a previous visitor to one of the parks with a new maximum length of stay rule, we wanted to ensure you were aware of this change prior to making your 2023 summer plans and reservations. Over the past several years, camping at Ontario Parks has grown steadily from 4.3 million camper nights in 2014 to over 6.6 million camper nights in 2021. With reservations on the rise, it has become more difficult for people to make reservations at some of our busier parks.
Starting in 2023, the seven and 14-night maximum length of stay changes will apply to all stays between July 1 and the Saturday of the Labour Day long weekend at select parks. Anyone with stays that overlap with the beginning or end of this date range may be eligible for longer stays. For example, in 2023:For parks with a 14-night maximum length of stay:
