Kenneth Pieroway has had a fascination with Gordon Pinsent's 'The Rowdyman' since watching it on his mother's 19-inch, black and white TV in 1974. So, he's pretty proud of the recent addition to his collection of memorabilia.
The west coast city is where Pieroway was born. He spent his early years living on Bell’s Hill. His family moved to Stephenville and then Trinity before settling in Colinet, in St. Mary’s Bay.Living in Corner Brook as an adult gave him a chance to further explore his fascination with the movie.
“Just seeing it on the big screen, it was fascinating,” said Pieroway who till then had only watched it on TV. and put in a bid for it. He got the poster for about $30 plus shipping and when it arrived it had a postmark from Buffalo, New York, and was folded up.His brother-in-law, Peter Kelly, put his doubts to rest.
Pieroway has no information about where the poster was displayed or where it ended up in the years since 1972. The employee also explained that the number on the back of the poster represents the year the film was released and the order it came out that year.With “Now Playing” across the top it is the perfect place for Pieroway to display his prized “Rowdyman” poster.“For one thing they’re rolled,” he said so they don’t show any lines. They also have the image printed on both sides which gives an increased colour saturation and greater image depth bringing a poster to life when lighted from behind.
