JOHN'S, N.L. — The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers' Association is again calling for the provincial government to implement a plan to address teacher recruitment, retention and resourcing problems in schools throughout the province.
NLTA president Trent Langdon said the teachers' union wants to see a strategy developed in response to the short and long-term challenges with recruiting and retaining certified teachers in the province.
Langdon added that the union has been calling for a comprehensive strategy to address teacher recruitment and retention since early last spring. “Shortages of professionals may not be as visible in the K-12 school system as they are in other public services," said Langdon. "Children still get on the bus in the morning and come home at the end of the school day.
