JOHN'S, N.L. — The Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra is gearing up to host over 250 students at MUN's music school for the Play-In/Sing-In Jam Session on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

Students will rehearse and perform during the event alongside the Atlantic String Quartet, NSO conductor Marc David, NSO principle bass Frank Fusari, NSO principal drummer Rob Power and NSO RBC Emerging Artist Conductor Murray Lefevbre. This year, the students will be performing the theme from the Second Movement Goin’ Home from Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor, also known as the New World Symphony.

Each student has prepared the piece at their own school and will come together at the Play-In/Sing-In Jam Session to perform as a group with other students from schools in St. John's and neighbouring communities. This program is part of the NSO’s Symphony Goes to School and Beyond program, which aims to provide students with the opportunity to work alongside NSO musicians.
