New Jersey Devils sign Martin Brodeur as executive VP of hockey ops
Brodeur was previously brought in by general manager Tom Fitzgerald to be a senior advisor and executive vice president in 2020. Brodeur, who was juggling business outside of hockey, will now solely focus on the hockey operations side full time. A couple of his duties will include player recruitment and overseeing the Devils’ goaltending developmental department..
Brodeur’s legendary career of course started with the Devils organization back in 1991-92 when he played four games with the Devils after a successful major junior campaign with the now-defunct, Saint-Hyacinthe Laser of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League . Brodeur won the Calder Trophy in 1993-94 as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year, beating out Jason Arnott and Mikael Renberg. Brodeur would go on to spend 21 seasons with the Devils, leading them to three Stanley Cup championships.
