Two NDP MPs are giving high school students an opportunity to directly participate in Canada’s democracy – and they’re doing it on their own dime. Earlier this month, Kaylee Chou, a student at Windermere Secondary School in Vancouver, was in the House of Commons to watch her local MP, Don Davies, tableChou had never been to Ottawa, but she made the cross-country trip because she had won Davies’ annual ‘Create Your Canada’ contest, where he solicits ideas from students in his riding and picks one to turn into a private member’s bill.
