In a statement on social media Thursday, MacLeod said that she suffered a mental health crisis in mid-May that highlighted broader physical and mental health challenges and has spent recent months addressing them with medical help. MacLeod announced on June 24 after Premier Doug Ford unveiled his new cabinet that she would take time off as the newly re-elected MPP for Nepean. “I will also spend my time working on public policy matters such as women’s leadership and protection issues, children’s sports, recreation and culture as well as mental health, anti bullying and suicide prevention as I have done since the beginning of my career.”
