Maidment, 48, is a former CEO of the Ottawa Food Bank and later began as the CEO of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation in September 2020.
“They’re really focused on these core issues. When I was with the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, one of the things we keep running into is inequity in the community,” said Maidment, who starts the new job on April 17.
The community foundation noted in a press release that Maidment has shaped policy development and government relations throughout his career.Article content Maidment is also a former chair of the City of Ottawa poverty advisory committee — a committee responsible for advising city councillors and senior city staff on poverty-related issues — and was a member of the steering committee that developed Ottawa’s Poverty Reduction Strategy, passed by Council in 2010. He worked on that committee with Barbara McInnes, a former CEO of the Ottawa Community Foundation, who provided a reference for Maidment when he joined the food bank. McInnes died in 2021.
