MILLBROOK, N.S. — The Hampton Inn in Millbrook was bustling on Tuesday as theThe design on the medals was inspired by a Mi'kmaq petroglyph called the star traveller. Each of its eight points is coloured blue or yellow, with other petroglyphs visible around the focal point.

Fern Paul, who had helped bring Scothorn's design to fruition, spoke on how she had been inspired by Scothorn's original concept. Marshall had first brought up the idea of hosting NAIG in Halifax back in 1994, at a meeting in Calgary. He told the attendees at the reveal, the Indigenous leaders who had gathered at that time laughed off his idea.For Marshall, the Games represent an important opportunity for Indigenous youth - an opportunity that so few of them receive.

Chief Bob Gloade of Millbrook First Nations was also at the reveal. He spoke of the importance of supporting young Indigenous athletes as they participate in the NAIG this summer.
