The first two days of the Players Championship have provided plenty of ammunition in the hot debate on the PGA Tour over limited field.
This came as great news for the world’s top players who will play the tour’s highest profile ‘regular’ events for more money against less competition, but it left many of the tour’s rank-and-file scratching their heads about what it will mean for them. A players’ meeting was held on Tuesday in an attempt to explain, and potentially clear the air, with some of the disgruntled tour members.
Most players likely will come to terms with their spot in the new system, with the successful ones at every level focusing more energy on what they can do about it rather than complaining about it. For fans and those paid to have an opinion on such matters, it might actually be a little less simple.
