The two attacks happened less than 12 hours apart starting February 1. Police believe the man may have followed other women that same night
for assaulting and robbing another woman in Scarborough, York Regional Police said Thursday.
The first attack took place late on February 1. Police said a man grabbed the woman, who was walking through an alleyway from McCowan Road toward Woodhall Road, in Markham, and forcefully dragged her between two houses.Police say they are concerned the suspect may have followed other women prior to the offence in Markham, adding that they believe the man travelled to the Scarborough Town Centre mall that evening, as well.
The second incident took place shortly afterward, in the early hours of February 2, in the area of Brimley Road and Lawrence Avenue East.“Our investigators have worked closely with TPS investigators and, in the course of their co-operation, they came to believe that the incidents were linked,” York Regional Police told the Star.He is described as five-foot-10, with a medium build and wearing a dark-coloured or green coat, a hat, black gloves, black boots and light-colour or camouflage pants.
