A man has died after a shooting in North York’s Keelesdale neighbourhood early Saturday evening.
Toronto police were called to reports of a person shot in an apartment building at 79 Clearview Heights, near Trethewey Drive, at about 5 p.m.
Duty Insp. Michelle Olszevski described the victim as an adult male who was initially given medical assistance by police officers and then by EMS workers. The victim was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, but later died from his injuries. Olszevski said multiple calls from area residents were received about the shooting and she asked anyone who may have heard or seen anything to come forward. “It’s a hot, summerlike day and a lot of people were in the area,” she said.
She described the area last night as “a very active investigation scene” that included police officers from 12 Division, the guns and gangs task force and from the homicide squad. She added that officers were canvassing the neighbourhood for security video footage.
