Grawer graduated from high school in 2020 and was supposed to start her first season at Memorial that fall. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced her to lose that first semester, and when she could get to St. John’s, the team wasn’t playing games.
Unfortunately, Dumaresque was injured near the end of the season and Grawer was forced into more consistent minutes because of it. However, her play in the first half of the season didn’t live up to the standards she set for herself. That led to her putting pressure on herself to perform, which led to volleyball-associated anxiety.
“My playing as well has definitely improved from last year,” she said. “I am starting to become more consistent while still playing aggressively, which is a great improvement looking back on my past volleyball competitions.
