Re “Ovechkin’s support for murderous Putin reason not to celebrate No. 8” : Brian Lilley is an excellent columnist, however, I disagree with him about Ovechkin and think that he should be recognized for his hockey accomplishments. After all, it’s an incredible achievement for Ovechkin to have surpassed Gordie Howe on the NHL all-time scoring list with goal no. 802. Lilley argues that Ovechkin doesn’t deserve accolades because he supports Vladimir Putin. That’s fine, he’s entitled to his views.
Many hockey experts are calling him the greatest offensive player in NHL history.
