It will be more difficult living downtown without a grocery store in the area.

I am writing in regards to the Save-On Foods in the Parkwood Mall that will be leaving the downtown core and moving to Pine Centre Mall next year.

I was disappointed when I first heard of the store leaving, especially since I currently live in the downtown area. As a downtown resident, I am well aware of the current state of the area. Still, we need a grocery store downtown, though I realize that getting a new one to move to Parkwood will take time and effort.

I had hoped to hear of something by now, but as of yet, I have not heard of one that will be moving into the current Parkwood Save-On Foods location. With all of the newer residential buildings going up , I had hoped that something would have been announced by the end of this year. I realize that the mayor and city council have a lot to deal with, but I am disheartened to see downtown Prince George be reduced to the state that it's currently in. I'm not saying that I have all of the answers, but I definitely have some concerns.

At least the new Save-On Foods in Pine Centre Mall is only a bus ride away, but I still think that downtown Prince George needs a grocery store. We keep losing more and more businesses downtown. I understand why the businesses are leaving; still, it's sad to see.
