KATHY JOHNSON - Kathy JohnsonSHELBURNE, N.S. — “I won’t come here alone,” says Candace Maxwell, one of the many volunteers who are busy staging the annual Seaside Horror Factory in Clark’s Harbour as part of upcoming Halloween festivities taking place throughout Shelburne County.
The horror factory adult tour dates are Oct. 25, 26, 28 and 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $8. A special children’s night will be held on Oct 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is $3. The Oct. 22 event, being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is geared towards families and children, with pumpkin painting and carving; face painting; pin the tail on the cat or deer, or the claw on the lobster; apple bobbing; balloon animals; a candy apple making station; a pumpkin bouncy castle; a 100-foot obstacle course and laser tag. Admission is free but donations will be accepted.
For those that like outdoor hauntings, the Beaverdam Haunted Yard being is staged on Oct. 29 from 6 to 11 p.m. at 21 Beaverdam Lake Road. It is not recommended for small children. Admission is free.Created by Tiffany Isadore, with help from her husband Tim and other family members and friends, her passion to decorate for Halloween began in 2007.
In 2010 when they moved to Beaverdam, “We were discouraged because it was like nobody’s going to see anything out here but you know what, let’s do it anyway,” she says.Around 2017 her neighbours said it was a shame that “you do all this work and nobody knows you are here.” So several years ago, Isadore advertised the Beaverdam Haunted Yard event for the first time.
