Forward Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs is one of three finalists for the Frank J. Selke Trophy.
The NHL revealed its three finalists on Tuesday for the award that goers to “the forward who best excels in the defensive aspect of the game.” Marner's name is included with Boston Bruins centre Patrice Bergeron and New Jersey Devils centre Nico Hischier.
The winners will be announced during the NHL Awards night at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on June 26. Marner, a first time NHL Awards finalist, is vying to become the second Toronto player to win the Selke exactly 30 years after Doug Gilmour became the first. Hischier's contributions helped New Jersey post a 49-point gain over 2021-22 and set franchise records for wins and points in a season.
